For random stuff not deserving of threads.

I'm having real trouble finding an apartment. Firstly - having a pet cuts the options by more than a third. When I visited last - maybe a month and a half or so ago, I found a place I liked quick but didn't have time to do a lot of searching, so I waited until I came back out a few weeks later. That one was gone by then, but they had another unit being renovated - but there was a guy ahead of me who got that one. My second favorite also had a guy ahead of me who got it. After viewing it again - I've decided I don't like the area my backup backup is in.

I've seen a few others I don't like - some of which I decided against just based on the area or the street or exterior or usually a combination of those. There are a few acceptable ones, but I just don't like the idea of getting one of those and then missing out on a better one. There's a building next to the one I liked most that has an apartment open - but it won't be ready to see for a week. That will make it 5 weeks since I came back out and have been staying at my friend's place. He's been out of town for a week, so we've had a break from each other - and it's not like we bother each other, but I really wanted to have gotten a place by now.

If you can stick it out for the right place. Dont take this wrong but you appear to be the kind of person who needs to feel secure, as am I. Its better to suffer a little longer than take something you regret.

I do indeed need to feel secure.

Thanks for the advice. Fingers crossed I can see the place in a week and, if it's good, I get it.

I cant live in an apartment. I dont like to have people all around me. Had a condo in college and that was pushing it. Living in a fraternity house for 3 years messed me up. I cant use the shower or bathroom without the door locked and I could never ever sleep without the door locked.

I lived in dorms for three years, then the last apartment for 4. The first dorm was no bigger than somebody's office and there were three of us in there - one regular bed and a set of bunk beds - I was in the upper bunk. Next dorm was better - brand new. There were four of us, but there were separate two-person bedrooms with a common living area. The final year it was just me and one other guy - but in ancient, crappy apartment-type dorm. No air got to the bedroom - needed two fans. Had a giant one in the living room to supplement the small unit there.

Obviously it wasn't pleasant for me, but I got through it. My last apartment was great, but too expensive. I'm going to miss central air. Heck, I miss it now staying in my buddy's place.

Really? I'm kind of surprised that central air isn't a prerequisite out there.

So I'm starting to think we're not going to hear from Threep again. This place isn't THAT awful if we could change a few things (the shoutbox logging out, the color scheme, etc)

I haven't seen central air in anything in the area I want to be in for under a grand per month - and I want to be under a grand.

Im thinking the same. He put alot of time in that place over the years. He was absent the last few months though, even before his chick showed up. Maybe he just got tired of dealing with it.

I just wish we would have had a little more notice. Im not okay with 24 hours and then gone.

I think you're right. We'll hear from him in a few months after she dumps him.

The bastard's gone off and gotten a life. Good for him.

But yeah - probably time to start finding a solution. I wish I knew more about websites.

No net connection at my friend's place for nearly two days. For some reason Netflix will work randomly now and then, but nothing for the computer. I'm using my phone now to create a hotspot. It's doable not to have TV when you have Netflix. Not preferable for someone who enjoys TV as much as I do, but doable. But no Netflix? And I have unlimited internet for the phone, but I wonder if the hotspot thing will lead to more charges.

It's actually my friend's neighbor's wifi, that he lets my friend use - so you got me if my friend will be able to do anything about it when he gets back tomorrow.

The one good thing is - the using a phone as a hotspot works VERY well as long as your phone has a good connection. And it's very easy to set up. At least with my phone.

I didnt mean to sound like I was capping on Stu, Im happy he's finally found somebody after all these years. I would have just liked the opportunity for us to take over the board or at minimum more than a days notice it was leaving.

I feel ya. He did ask about one of us having a computer we could dedicate to the site a bit earlier, but then when we said we'd chip in he said he'd look for a solution and nothing came of that.

'Course, now Im glad I didn't - since none of you fucks bothered to mention this place to me.

It's an, uh, lovely home away from home isn't it? I thought somebody had mentioned that they sent you an e-mail about it. Ah well, you are here now.

I think it was Fingerlands responsibility but he only has a smart phone in LA for now. I guess that lets him off the hook.

While Threep's is up, I wonder if there's a way to send a message to the rest of the membership about this place?
