The Simpsons coming to an end?

Fox says the financial model for the show no longer works, which rings false with me considering the nutty amount of money they must be making off that show. Anyway - the producers have already slashed their costs and Fox wants the actors to take a 45% pay cut. Considering the actors each make $8 million a year, the can afford to take a cut - especially since they're never going to make money like that ever again - but there is always pride involved. Then - supposedly Fox only wants one more season of the show - which would be its 24th. 25 is a nicer number, but nets don't care about stuff like that. Of course they could just be posturing.

Anyway - it had to end sometime and the show has been on a long downslide quality-wise, but it's still surprising and maybe a little sad.

I find it a little sad too for some reason, but it's at least 11-12 years too late.

I was a little surprised to hear the show has brought in a billion in profit over 20+ years. I really thought (with merchandising, etc) it would be many billions.

I might see 2 episodes a year now. I dont watch reruns anymore. Im sort of over it. Maybe in a few years after its been off a while I'll appreciate it again.

I haven't watched it in years, I got sick of pretty much the same episodes rehashed in similar ways over and over again.

Seasons 3-8 were unbeatable. Things started going south in season 10. It's season 23 now. But there have been good episodes mixed in there.

I would have thought multiple billions as well. The Cars merch has made multiple billions and it hasn't been around very long.

Lots of unauthorized Simpsons merch also. I remember going down to Mexico and seeing hundreds of bootleg products lining the streets.

Renewed for 2 more seasons. Fox and the actors are so full of shit. Just BS posturing

Apparently Season 25 will be the last, but they haven't officially stated that yet.

Would imagine the characters will live on in theatrical sequels after that.
